Do You Have Backyard Chickens?
Reminder: Under City Municipal Code Title 7, Chapter 5 (Ordinance 1922), adopted in August 2018, keeping chickens within city limits requires an annual Urban Chicken Permit. Whether you’re a seasoned chicken keeper or just getting started, taking care of your permit is a great way to avoid any issues down the road.
Permit allows up to five (5) hens per residence. No roosters are permitted. Permits are $30 for new applicants and $15 for annual renewal.
Permit applications are available at City Hall or here on the city website under “How Do I?”. For questions, contact City Hall at (406) 293-2731.
