TO: Water/Sewer Committee
FROM: Brian Zimmerman, Chair
RE: Reviewing Sewer Rates

Below is a summary of the discussion from our November 14th meeting:

Bran Zimmerman and Gary Beach present, Rob Dufficy not present.
No members of the public were present.

The Chair opened the meeting for looking into the decreasing revenue in the city sewer budget.

Mayor Teske and Jim Hammons found the correct sewer customer numbers, water treated numbers, and waste water treated numbers. We were able to come to a final new Base Rate number and per 1,000 gallons usage number as well. It was voted on and passed for recommendation to the city council for vote.

Base Rate: $26.63 old/ $29.75 new
Usage per 1,000 gallons: $2.00 old/ $2.85 new
Annual increase of 4% on Base Rate only
To be reviewed every 5 years unless necessary from the annual Budget Committee review.

Meeting adjourned –

These new rates will put us back on track with the current budget as well as start to build up a reserve as needed for new and future projects. There hasn’t been an increase in the sewer rates since 2011 when it was then advise to raise the rates to this approximate rate that we have now decided on. It has been a long approximately three years of watching as we tried different scenarios with the water rates (940 credit), and waiting for all of our budgets audits for the last three-four years from the CPA’s.
